Sometimes I leave a session with a feeling of total peace, and with an understanding that I was MEANT to be at that exact place for the past 60 minutes.
This was one of those sessions.
It had been raining unpredictably throughout the day, and I thought that there was no way our outdoor session could happen. So I contacted the family and asked the next available time they’d have since the weather was being less than cooperative. Their answer? Summer. SUMMER!!
When they booked their session, they told me that the last time they had family photos taken was when their youngest (the boy in orange) was 2-years-old. NO WAY did I want them waiting any longer. Man I got to prayin’ hard for there to be some way for this family to have their photos taken that day—the very last opportunity they’d have for months, after YEARS of wanting them, but no chance to do so.
Note: some might think that praying about God’s will for a family to have their photos taken is a touch silly, but if you’ve read my story (here) then you’re well aware of how important family photos are to me.
The day continued on and the random rain showers hadn’t eased. Against my best judgement, I went ahead and told the family to still meet me at the location we’d discussed (an open field!!…so I had no clue what I was going to do about the weather issue).
And do you know that the moment I pulled up to meet them (I mean the MOMENT I put the car in park) the rain stopped, clouds parted, and the sun started shining. What?! I was in awe this whole session, and I knew we were meant to be there. The family was perfect, the location was great, and their images were exactly what they wanted.
