Don’t let your eyes fool you, these photos are NOT engagement photos. I repeat, this is NOT an engagement session. This is Adrianne + Michael, and these are their five-year wedding anniversary photos.
Five years into this marriage, and they were more fiery and obsessed with each other than many an engagement session. It was pretty much just a makeout sesh, and I just happened to be there taking pics of it…but not in a creeper kind of way.
Aside from how truly in love with each other they are, there was something else that was special about their session. One thing they initially asked kind of set me back. They asked if they could bring some wooden signs along, and if we could make sure that the signs, along with actual trees, could be featured in some of the photos. Of course I told them we could absolutely do that, but I had no idea why.
Well, when we got to the shooting location I asked what the reason was for the specific requests, and they said it’s because the gift for the fifth wedding anniversary is wood! Did you know that? I’ll bet you knew that silver is for the 25th anniversary, and gold for the 50th! (If you’ve never heard of this, or just want to see all of them, Google “annual wedding anniversary gifts”).
So, even when they’ve been married for 75 years, as they look back at all of their anniversary photos with their grandchildren, they’ll always know that THESE specific photos were from their fifth wedding anniversary because of their thoughtful gift.
